The new Jaguar XE is redefining style and efficiency, with a sportier feel, an enhanced exterior design, and an all new-luxurious interior. It also comes with impressive upgrades and advanced technologies.
Just launched, the XE’s exterior design has been further enhanced with new graphical elements. Its performance-orientated character is complemented by sporty design elements, such as the aircraft winglet-inspired sculpted surfaces, dark mesh detailing to the rear valance and new 18” wheel styles. It also appears wider and lower than before, with larger front apertures, bold graphics and muscular forms alluding to the car’s performance and advanced aerodynamics.
The new all-LED headlights with a striking ‘J’ blade daytime running light signature create a more purposeful look for the car. The rear of the car also features a new bumper design and slender all-LED taillights with updated signature graphics accentuating the visual width of the car.
For the interior, the sports-style seats come with contrast stitching, Satin Chrome gearshift paddles and R-Dynamic treadplates. The beautifully-crafted, all-new interior features extensive use of soft-touch materials, premium veneers and all-new door trims that improve usability and practicality. A new steering wheel, shared with the all-electric I-PACE, features hidden until-lit graphics and tactile switches for intuitive control of key functions.
Performance-wise, the new XE is powered by the Jaguar’s Ingenium P300 engine which produces 300PS of horsepower at 5,500rpm and 400Nm of torque between 1,500 – 4,500rpm at a top speed of 250km/h.
Paired with the ZF 8HP45 eight-speed automatic transmission, the XE delivers exceptionally smooth acceleration with seamless gearshifts and outstanding responses. It also features a state-of-the-art pendulum damper in the torque converter that is extremely effective at absorbing low frequency vibrations, enabling the engine to run at lower speeds without compromising refinement.
Jaguar Drive Control allows you to select from Comfort, Eco, Dynamic, and Rain, Ice, Snow Mode. Each mode has its own tailor-made programme which alters different parameters, such as engine and transmission response, steering feel, parasitic load management or traction and stability control. Customers can select any of the driver modes through the toggle switch located on the centre console.
The refreshed XE is also the smartest and most connected of Jaguar’s sedans with the inclusion of the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system – first time for the XE, which offers instinctive control through a pair of seamlessly integrated high-resolution touchscreens. All the key systems are at the driver’s fingertips, displayed over a pair of HD touchscreens and intuitive, tactile rotary dials.
Connectivity has also been enhanced for the new XE, with the introduction of a Smartphone Pack, which features Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM. The system mirrors the driver’s smartphone on the 10-inch HD touchscreen, allowing access to compatible apps quickly, easily, and safely, while on the move.
The large 10” upper screen delivers impressive clarity, responsiveness and enhanced functionality. While the lower 5.5” touchscreen can be used to adjust settings, such as climate control, without disrupting the upper screen, intuitive capacitive switches ensure that drivers can change settings without diverting their attention from the road.
Adding to this is the latest generation 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display instrument cluster where all the important information a driver needs are logically and intuitively displayed to minimise distraction.
Artificial Intelligence is also employed in this new version of the XE. With Smart Settings, the XE can recognise and learn the preferences of drivers and automatically adjust the seating and steering column according to their preferred positions. Over time, it will also be able to learn a driver’s climate control and music listening preferences, and even cue up the most popular phone contacts at different times.
Also new in the XE is wireless device charging. This allows occupants to place and charge a compatible smartphone in the centre console without the need for messy cables.
The new Jaguar XE also features the latest in safety technologies. Driver Condition Monitoring measures steering, throttle and brake inputs, analyses lane departure and the driver’s use of directional indicators. If the system’s algorithms determine that the driver is drowsy, a coffee cup symbol will show up in the instrument cluster to warn the driver to take a break.
The new Jaguar XE comes only in the R-Dynamic variant with a starting price of RM395,831.02 (applicable only to Peninsular Malaysia; excluding road tax and insurance). The price stated is inclusive of 50% Sales Tax waiver provided under the economic stimulus plan, Penjana.
